The electrode of the spark plug generates a high voltage voltage to form an electric spark, which ignites the mixed gas in the engine cylinder and explodes and burns, thereby pushing the piston to move, and the engine then runs and can be driven on the road.
The main parts of spark plugs are insulators, shells, terminals and electrodes. The insulator must have good insulation and thermal conductivity, high mechanical strength, can withstand high temperature thermal shock and chemical corrosion, and the material is usually industrial ceramics. The housing is a metal piece whose function is to hold the spark plug on the cylinder head.
Common spark plugs are nickel alloy spark plugs, platinum spark plugs and iridium spark plugs. Inspection of spark plugs
1.Disassembly: Remove the high-voltage branch lines on the spark plug in turn, and mark the original position to avoid dislocation of installation. During disassembly, pay attention to remove dust and debris from the spark plug hole in advance to prevent debris from falling into the cylinder. When disassembling, use the spark plug sleeve to hold the spark plug, turn the sleeve to remove it, and arrange it in sequence.
Attention should be paid to the disassembly and assembly of the spark plug: the disassembly and assembly of the spark plug should be carried out in a cold state. When disassembling, be careful to prevent the dirt from falling into the combustion chamber after the spark plug is unscrewed. When installing a new spark plug, you can apply a layer of lubricating oil on its surface, which protects the cylinder head and saves more effort in the next disassembly.
2. Check: The normal color of the electrode of the spark plug is off-white. If the electrode is burnt black with carbon deposits, it means there is a fault. When checking, the spark plug can be connected to the cylinder block, and the central high-voltage wire can be used to contact the terminal of the spark plug, and then turn on the ignition switch to observe the high-voltage electric jump position. If the electric jump position is in the spark plug gap, it means that the spark plug works well, otherwise, it needs to be replaced.

When overhauling the engine or performing other operations, be careful not to collide with the spark plug insulator, so as not to be damaged by force and affect the normal operation of the spark plug.
Be careful when plugging or unplugging the high-voltage terminal, the action should be gentle, do not use excessive force, and do not shake the spark plug insulator, so as not to damage the sealing performance of the spark plug or cause damage to the spark plug.
New spark plugs or spark plugs removed for cleaning and inspection cannot be dropped or thrown to avoid damage to the insulator.
